Last weekend, I’ve been at the biggest European boat gathering for the second year, now! It was again a blast! All in all still quite exhausting because of all the parties, but definitely worth a trip! So mark your calendar for Chill And Ride 2010.
Seeing the new European Champion, Dan Nott and of course also Dominic Lagace ripping the wake was a highlight for me! Thanks guys for your show throughout the whole event! You did go BIIIIG or even LASER, as Sandro Reinhardt would say! Those who where there, might understand me!
Some weeks ago - maybe alreay a month now - the Billabong and NewSchnitzel Stretch Your Summer Tour stopped at Wertheim, close to my hometown, for a nice testing at the boat. It was quite a chilled day and although I nearly lost my camera, I came home with some shots and of course, good mood. I once again had to fight the difficulties of boat-photography and as we had a chase boat for quite a while, it was even harder. Hopefully I’ll get the chance to shoot something like that again, soon!
Some 2 weeks ago, this years Wake The Line at Stadionbad Colgne, took place. I joined for the second time, after 2008. The setup by UNIT Parktech was insane and all together with the world class riders, the contest as well! We saw some really nice action and due to the reason that it’s the only competition, where spectators as well as the photographers get that close to the action, the shooting was really different than the “normal” cable action.
In the end, Raph Derome from Canada ended up, taking the 1st place in wakeboarding category and Jan Kissmann defended his title from 2009 on the Wakeskate. The Wakeboard podium was completed by our German talent Nico von Lerchenfeld and Shaun Watson, Ben Horan took 2nd and Lukas Suess 3rd in Wakeskate category. But there was still the Best Trick to be announced and this title went also to Jan Kissmann for the wakeskating part and to Daniel “Fetzy” Fetz for the wakeboarders. Here is the sequence of Daniels’ trick!
Some weeks ago I had a small shooting at Pete and Tobi Reißmanns Xstar with Steffen Vollert on bo(a)rd. Our gain was to get at least one shot to be used for this years Chill And Ride poster. The problem was, that the motive was something I am not so much used to. We needed the rider just big in the sky, grabbing, without any relation to the surrounding or anything else. Just a “Rider in the Sky” as I normally avoid!
This new target was not as easy as I thought, but after some minutes of “training” I got shots where no hand was cut of or the board wasn’t completely on my picture. Steffen gave his best, to grab his signature board - the NEWSCHNITZEL VS SWS - everywhere you can imagine! In the end we decided to take a boned Indy grab. Stylish one, Steffler!
One year passed so fast and now it’s nearly again time for the Board Fusion Photo and Filming Session at Wakepark Thulba. The big success last year showed us, that there should be again a big party and maybe something special at Thulba. That is why we decided, to kick the “contest” and instead create something new, that hasn’t been done before.
First of all we needed a new “Cover” and that is, why I was shooting with Britta and Simm at the studio of a local TV-Station. Our shooting was really funny and in the end we had a good selection of pictures. Finaly Facy, the creative guy who designed the Poster together with organizing this event in coop with me and of course some help by others, used one of the last shots we took. I think it’s again a good one and of course, the subject of last year is now used in a new way.
Some weeks ago, I wrote a short blog on the upcoming German Wakeskate Championships at Blaichach. The event already took place last weekend. It was a very chilled and well organized one! The guys who organized this event wanted me on short term to cover the event, which meant to be a good job! Unfortunately the weather wasn’t that much with us! Cloudy nearly whole day long!
It’s been again quite a while since my last post. Maybe this is because we’re now in-between the winter and summer season. The summer and with it the wake season kicked off quite slow because weather in Germany was just disgusting this spring. To much rain an cold temperatures made it what we should call, “a bad start”!
But if the spring was not the best, the summer will be way better! I’m hoping for a lot of sun within the next month and on top some nice shootings, I’m already planing at the moment. By now I just wanted to show you the poster of this years German Wakeskate Championships which shows Sandro Reinhardt in a picture I took. Just have a look.
Last weekend we, the CAD-Team, headed to Warth-Schroecken for the final qualification stop of this years ChillandDestroy-Tour. After havin managed everything up in the funpark and putting all the stuff there, Facy, Flip and I decided take some powder shots, due to the reason, that we we’re having a wonderful bluebird and just entering the perfect light aka golden hour.
As time goes by, I have some news for you. Issue #34 of the Unleashed Magazine was published online last week. I’m proud to announce you an article about the Bedroom Or Dancefloor Story, I wrote for this issue which was printed together with some shots of mine and additionally NewSchnitzel used one of my pictures for an ad in there, too.
As the winter is in it’s prime time since a few weeks, also my snow-season kicked off at the end of January with the first tourstop of the 2010 CAD-Rookie-Series. After a stop with perfect conditions in Ehrwald, we headed on to the Sauerland, where weather was not that good, but quite a lot of snow came down within the nights and so it was funny there, too.
